Once you’ve decided to appoint us as your digital marketing agency to design and build your website, we’ll get to work right away and implement our 5-Step Web Design Process. Our experience of designing over 500 websites to date tells us that this process works time and time again.
We’ll appoint a dedicated project manager to be your point of contact throughout the design and build process. They will liaise with you and any other stakeholders in your business, as well as our designers, developers and other digital marketing experts.
We’ll get to know your business, your aims and objectives so we’ll be able to identify how the web can be used to help you achieve those goals. Some of the areas to consider are:
What is the purpose of the website? Do you want to provide information, promote a service, sell a product…?
What do you hope to accomplish by building this website, for example, the more common goals are either to make money or share information?
Is there a specific group of people that will help you reach your goals? Can we build a picture of the “ideal” person you want to visit your website? We will consider their demographics as this may help to determine the best design style for your site.
What kind of information will your target audience be looking for when they visit your site? Are they looking for information, a particular product or service, online ordering or booking…?
Once our marketing experts have gathered the information, we’ll start to work on a plan of action. This will include creating a site map to show the various pages of your website. This is essential to developing an easy to use navigation system so that your user can find their way around the site quickly and effortlessly. We’ll also determine at this stage whether any integrated software or technologies will be required, for example, content management system, contact forms, online booking system or payment capability.
As soon as we have a clear understanding of what you’re looking for, our designers will start to conceptualise the look and feel of the site. We’ll take into consideration your target audience and your industry sector, as well as incorporating any logos and corporate colours to ensure brand consistency.
Our creative team will produce several mock-ups, which will either be sent to you via jpeg files or through secure access to our development site so you can view our progress. This stage will give you the opportunity to express your likes and dislikes so that we create a website you will be proud to promote. Only when you are happy will we sign off the design.
Now the technical work begins! Our specialist team of web developers will take the agreed design template and start to build the pages, adding in any integrated software or processes that were identified in the planning stage. The site will be tested for usability – do all the contact forms work correctly, is the site easy to view and navigate in different browsers and on different devices?
Once the website is complete it will be time to launch or go live. We can help at this stage with driving traffic to your new site via activity such as social media marketing, PR and email campaigns. Now you have a brand new website, you’ll want people to see it!
Even though the design and build of the site is complete, our work is far from over. This is where our team of search engine optimisation experts really come into their own. Having identified a range of keywords that your target audience will use to find your site, we’ll use various techniques to increase your online visibility and get your website moving up the search engine rankings. This is a gradual process but one that is critical to the success of any website.
